About this item
WW1 Attributed 9th Bn Worcestershire Regiment Brodie Steel Helmet with Original Cover & Unit Marked Neck Flap
A suberb and extremely rare, sleepy combination, which remains as originally worn. The Brodie helmet is fitted with the WD issue pattern KD quartered helmet cover and retains the issue pattern matching neck flap. This is painted with a large green triangle. The interior retains the oilcloth lining but felt pad is now absent. The chinstrap is also no longer present. The cover remains in good condition with some rust staining. Examining the cover it appears to have never been removed from the helmet A superb combination.
I have attributed this helmet to the 9th Bn Worcestershire Regiment ..... Pamphlet shows illustration A green triangle worn by the 9th Bn He notes worn on both side of the helmet. I presume he reverse to the sun helmet, it seems logical that the 9th would carry this to be worn on the helmet, the neck flap seems logical for quick recognition. The 9th saw action at Gallipoli and throughout the war served in Egypt.
