About this item
A very nice example of a WW1 Enlisted Man’s Prussian Infantry M07 Feldmutze with the rare camouflage or masking band.
Constructed in a field grey wool the cap is piped around the brim with the red of the infantry and has a hatband of identical colour. It became obvious that the coloured hatband was too obvious and on 29th March 1915 Prussia produced the special removable and adjustable masking band made of a ribbed cotton with a horizontal slit at the front to allow fitting over the state coloured cockade.
At the front of the cap are the two cockades, the upper with the national colours, the lower with the Prussian colours.
Inside, the cap is lined with an unbleached cotton, the stamp of the clothing department of the 21st Army Corps and 1917 date remain clear.
Overall condition is very good with just one hole to the brim and one to a side panel.
