    About this item

An original Pre-War Royal Marines Khaki Drill Service Dress tunic with a full set of brass RM buttons and dated 1932.

This pattern of tunic is particular to the Royal Marines as it features a stand collar. Aside from this, it follows the same lines as the standard British Army Khaki Drill Service Dress tunic with two pleated breast pockets, epaulettes and a cavalry cuff. The epaulettes have hand stitched holes through which Royal Marine brass titles can be fitted and the collar has evidence of where RM collar badges have been fitted previously.

Inside the jacket bares ink stamps applied by and inspector and the 1932 date can be seen. The original owner has also marked his name to the interior.

The tunic is a small size which will fit around a 34-36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 18 3/4"
    Inside arm - 19"
    Outside arm - 25"
    Shoulders - 16 1/2"
    Length - 28"

Thie jacket is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear and use etc, as can be seen in the pictures. There are a couple of small holes around the shoulders and the eppauletes have extra holes where brass titles have been fitted independantly of the hand sewn holes. These detials are shown in the pictures but overall the tunic displays well.

A nice Pre-War jacket which would compliment any collection.
