About this item
An original British Army Officers Greatcoat with Royal Artillery buttons, clearly dated 1941.
This pattern of coat was used for many years by British Officers from the time of the Great War all the way through to the 1950s. This particular example dates from 1941 and was made by 'F.C. Jennings, Burslem, Staffs' and is named to 'J.D. Matthews'.
The coat features t half belt to the rear which is fastened with three brass Royal Artillery buttons and turn back cuffs which are standard on this pattern of coat. There is a brass change inside the neck to hang the coat up from which are often missing or broken.
The coat is a small size and will fit someone of around a 36-38" chest.
The condition of the coat is very good overall, as can be seen in the photographs. There are some small moth grazes towards the bottom of the coat but these are only noticeable on close inspection.
A very nice original Officers overcoat with a nice early war date. This would compliment any collection or be ideal for re-enactment.
