About this item
A rare large size economy pattern British Army Service Dress Tunic dated 1942.
Often referred to as '1922 Pattern' by collectors, this particular tunic is the wartime austerity pattern which features plain patch pockets on the chest rather than the pre and post war patterns which have pleats. Aside from this detail the tunic is more-or-less unchanged from the earlier pattern.
The tunic features a full set of brass Kings crown brass buttons and brass belt hangers in the waist. The linings the standard khaki drill type used in these tunics during WW2.
Inside the tunic still retains its original label which is still bright and legible. It states the size as No.12 which is a hard to find broader size which will fit a 40-41" chest. It also bares the makers name 'L. Silberston & Sons' as well as the War Department broad arrow marking.
There is also a War Department broad arrow issue stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'O' which denotes 1942 as the year of manufacture.
The tunic is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures and it displays very well. It is very clean overall and there are no real signs of wear or use that I can see.
All in all a very nice tunic which would suit both the collector as well as the re-enactor due to its large size.
