    About this item

An original United States Navy 'Parkas, Wet Weather' clearly dated 1944 and in good condition.

This pattern of Parka was issued during the Second World War and saw use with Navy Beach Crews on D-Day amongst others. It is made from a rubberised material in an OD green shade and features metal clasps which fasten the opening around the neck. The parka features a hood which can be pulled in tight with a drawstring. Another drawstring is fitted to the bottom hem. The cuffs feature 13 star buttons which fasten to a tab to allow the cuff to be worn tight at the wrist. Metal eyelets are fitted as vents to the arm pits and the USN stencil is present to the chest.

Inside the garment the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the manufacturer as 'Sigmund Eisner Ltd' and the size as medium. The 1944 date is also in evidence.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

    Chest - 28"
    Inside arm - 18"
    Outside arm - 24
    Length - 28 1/2"
    Shoulders - 18"

The overall condition of the smock is good and it displays well. There are some signs of age and wear so please study the pictures carefully before purchasing.

All in all this is a nice example with a good, clear wartime date.
