    About this item

An original 1947 Dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No 10.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1947 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features brass Kings crown RAF buttons and wartime period economy printed eagle badges to the top of each sleeve, meaning that it can easily pass as a wartime example. The tunic comes complete with its original waist belt which is fitted with the correct brass buckle.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as 10 which will fit a 36-37" chest and 33" waist. Below this is the 1947 date and the War Department broad arrow.  The manufacturer's name of 'B Bloom Ltd' is also present. The original number has added his serial number to one of the pocket bags which can be seen when the jacket is laid open.

The tunic is in good condition for its age and overall displays well. It is still a nice, deep RAF blue colour with no signs of serious wear or use. The cuff appears to have been let down at some stage but this is only really noticable on close insepection. Overall it is a nice example but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

This could suit a reenactor or collector well and will make a good stand-in for a war dated example.
