    About this item

An original 1952 Dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No 13.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1952 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features staybrite Kings crown RAF buttons and post war eagle badges to the top of each sleeve. LAC badges are also fitted lower down but all of these could be changed for wartime examples which would make this a good stand-in for a war dated tunic.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as 37-38" chest and 34" waist. Below this is the 1952 date and the War Department broad arrow. Just visible below this is the War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'L'. The original owner has marked his serial number to the interior although it is hard to read.

The tunic is in good condition for its age and overall displays well. It shows only limited signs of wear and use and the wool serge is still a nice deep colour. There is a small amount of damage to the bottom of one of the breast pockets but overall it is a clean example. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.

This could suit a reenactor or collector well and will make a good stand-in for a war dated example.
