    About this item

An original 'Jackets Bush Khaki, 1950 Pattern' dated 1955 and in worn condition.

Often referred to as the 'Khaki Drill Bush Jacket' this pattern of jacket has to be one of the most classic military jackets of the 20th Century. Cut in a typical 'Safari' style, the jacket features two buttoning chest pockets with scalloped flaps, two lower flapped pockets, long sleeves and an integral waist belt with brass buckle.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and states the size as No. 8 which fits up to 5'10", a 39"-41" chest and a 34-36" waist. It also bares the manufactures name, 'W. A. Phelps (Lon Ltd)', the 1955 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

    Chest - 21 3/4"
    Inside arm - 17 1/2"
    Outside arm - 23 1/4"
    Shoulders - 17 3/4"
    Length - 31 1/2"

The condition of the jacket is reasonable for its age and it displays reasonably well. It does have signs of wear and use which can be seen in the pictures along with the other odd mark here and there. There is wear to the collar and the waist belt has two holes where the buckle has been moved at some stage although these aren't visible when the belt is fastened. Please study the pictures carefully as they form part of the description and remember that this is a pre-worn vintage item.

All in all a good example of this pattern of bush jacket with a nice clear date and complete with its original belt and buckle.
