About this item
A rare original Royal Navy Officers Windproof Ventile Jacket made in the early 1970s.
These jackets were issued to officers serving in the Royal Navy in the 1970s. It is made from ventile cotton which was a fabric much favoured by the Royal Navy in the 1950s and 1960s for outerwear. It is a navy blue colour and of austere design featuring no pockets and a simple zip front. Epaulettes are fitted to the shoulders and fasten with velcro. The zip is plastic with a metal puller which is marked 'ZIPP'.
Inside the jacket is a simple patch pocket. The original label is also present to the interior and bears the title 'Jacket Man's R N Officers Windproof' and the size is 2. The makers name of 'H. E. Textiles' is present as are details pertaining to size and the contract numbers. Another smaller label is also present which states the garment is to be dry cleaned.
