About this item
A rare original WW2 British Denim Battledress Blouse dated 1944 and in new old stock un-issued condition.
At first glance this jacket appears to be a standard wartime pattern Denim Battledress Blouse although it is in fact the much rarer drill blouse. Rather than being made of denim, this pattern of blouse was made from cotton drill which is a noticeably more vivid green colour. Items were made in this material between 1943 and 1945, most likely due to a shortage of denim.
features a full matched set of early pattern flat revolving shank buttons which are all held on with the correct brass split rings. The buckle is again the early pattern.
Inside the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the size as No. 2 and features the 1944 date as well as the War Department broad arrow marking. The manufacturer's name of 'Robert John' is also present.
The jacket is in fantastic new old stock condition and looks as it would have done when it came out of the factory. It clearly hasn't been worn or issued making it a fantastic collectible piece today.
A brilliant example of a piece of British military workwear with some interesting details and in stunning condition. This would make a great addition to any collection without a doubt!
