A rare original Royal Navy Class II Wool Jersey, clearly dated 1943 and in good condition.
This pattern of jumper was worn by all Class II seaman through the winter months underneath the woolen serge jumper. They were also used as outerwear against regulations. Made from a tight knit navy blue coloured wool in a Guernsey style, the jumper features a large open neck and long sleeves. To the interior the original label is still present which states the manufacturer's name as 'Neckwear' the size as 3 and the year of manufacture as 1943.
The jumper will suit someone of around a 38" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 18" (stretches to 20")
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 18 1/2"
Shoulders - 20 1/2"
The jumper is in clean condition overall and does not look to have been worn. There are a number of darns however, many of which are detailed in the pictures. Please take time to study them and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn, vintage item.
War dated examples such as this are rarely found today and are doubtless missing from many collections.
