About this item
Featuring unmarked tapering 14 7/8" double-edged diamond-section blade of Oakeshott
Type XV, showing lamination, shallow edge nicks and moderate pitting. Cross-guard of
Oakeshott Style 8 with sharply down-turned finials. Disc pommel of Oakeshott Type J and
leather-covered wood grip, likely the original as it appears to have never been apart. Not
excavated, with the metal having been cleaned at some point. This is the type of dagger
carried by knights and men-at-arms during the Hundred Years War as used to dispatch the
French knights who fell on the muddy fields of Agincourt. A dagger of this period and
condition is a very rare find. Overall length 20 1/2".
