About this item
A superb private purchase example of the hard to find short or half size MK II pattern, which has been shown to have been carried by aircrew and tank personnel.
This kukri with hardwood grips, and steel furniture.
The timber grips have been personalised with the original owners initials. The seller told me they are for Flight Lieutenant Eric John Wright, RAAF. The RAAF sweetheart brooch also listed was attached to the laces.
No makers markings, as one would expect from a true war time manufactured piece.
Ridged leather covered wooden scabbard, complete with integral belt frog, which also houses the chakmak and a wooden handled spike, where the karda ought to be. I've never seen this before, and have no idea what it was for. The Chakmak handle also bears the initials E.J.W.
Blade length 11 inches, 15 inches overall.
Unusual to find an example which carries research potential.
Strictly over 18's Only
