About this item
An original Royal Naval Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal with 1941-1957 ribbon, that appears to be original, albeit a little faded. George VI reverse. Suspension is a little slack. Correctly named to;
6682 C. E. STONEHAM. SMN. R.N.R.
I believe this to be Edward Stoneham, service number sometimes noted as C6682. He was born in Hastings in 1906.
His service record is available at the National Archives website and this shows he enlisted on 30 August 1924. His LSGC is recorded on 20 July 1941, whilst serving the HMS Ramillies, a Revenge class battleship and there is therefore an entitlement to some World War Two medals. Some shore service also noted including in the Orkneys.
The document also shows on a couple of occasions he was docked Good Service Badges and pay, firstly for 'negligence in carrying out his duties' and then for being drunk on watch.
