WW1 1916 / 17 D Shape Mess Tin & Cover.
A very rare pair which have always been used together.
Mess tin cover is of khaki cotton material tailored with polished horn buttons. Clear makers stamp of Maple & Co 1914. No damage to the cloth but with rust staining marks see photographs.
The 1917 dated D shape mess tin is complete with lid, this with folding handle. The interior retains a large part of the original plated finish. The tin is rusty, but I have made no attempt to clean as the rust corresponds to the rust marks to the cover, proving that this pair have always being together.
Untouched sleepy condition.
