    About this item

A scarce Imperial Russian Issue Cooking Pot (mess tin)
This is the standard issue M1909 Mess Tin provided to each Russian soldier in WW1. It was worn held at the end of the soldier's blanket "horseshoe roll" and can be seen in numerous period photographs.
The Mess Tin is made of copper alloy and would originally have had a steel carrying handle/loop which is now missing. It is in sound condition aside from a small hole to the Tin's side. There are clear Tsarist Russian Army issue marks.
    An interesting evocative item.
