For sale are a Rare Post WW2 RAF Heany Southern Rhodesia Converted Piston Ashtray 1949-1951. This is in good condition and is made from a converted Airplane Piston. This is engraved “To Beryl R.A.F Heany Southern Rhodesia 1949-1951”.
R.A.F. Heany was home to N. 4 Flying Training School and 394 Maintenance Unit while I was there 1948/1949.It was approximately 15 miles from Bulawayo which was the capitol of the then Southern Rhodesia. It operated Tiger Moths and Harvard aircraft. Trench art is any decorative item made by soldiers, prisoners of war, or civilians where the manufacture is directly linked to armed conflict or its consequences. It offers an insight not only to their feelings and emotions about the war, but also their surroundings and the materials they had available to them.
