    Awarded to Sister Emma Margaret Surman served with Queens Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve. 1914-45 Star (SISTER E. M. SURMAN. Q.A.I.M.N.S.R.), Q.A.I.M.N.S.R. Cap Badge and original box of issue. Sister Emma M Surman was born 13th January 1881 in Hasfield, Gloucestershire. Daughter of a Farmer and educated at Worcester Ladies College. Trained at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London 1902-1907, serving another period in 1912-1913. Serving with the position of Senior Staff Nurse. Nursing experience, position Nursing Sister at Cromer Nursing Home 1907-1909. Followed by time with South Kensington, St Bart's, Hasfield Court in Gloucestershire. With service at St Bartholomew's Hospital. On the outbreak of World War One Emma M Surman joined the Q.A.I.M.N.S.R. on the 7th November 1914. She sailed out to Salonica Theatre of Operation on the 10th November 1915. Spent a period of service in Malta later returning to UK. Whilst in Salonica Sister Emma M Surman contracted Malaria in August 1917. On return to England she worked the Lord Derby War Hospital in Warrington as a member of the Q.A.I.M.N.S.R. (with copy Medal Index Card and General Service Papers)
