RAF H-type oxygen mask, WW2 dated
Size medium. Dated 2-45 (February 1945). Rare wartime dated example of this otherwise relatively common mask. The rubber facepiece retains quite good overall shape but the lower edge is curling inwards. The rubber is pliable although rather grubby. On the plus side there appears to be little cracking except when the aforementioned lower edge is 'flexed'. The pearl grey suede lining is complete and has average soiling. Fitted with a type 57 microphone assembly and a light tan coloured loom with the correct large 2-pin socket, type 614, 10H/18196. The webbing harness is a bit tatty and lacks elasticity but is complete and even retains one original rubber band. These late war H-masks are very difficult to obtain in any condition and are considerably rarer than the G-type mask. When found, most are 3/45 dated so this 2/45 is a rarer early date. A reasonable/quite good used example that could be improved significantly with some careful cleaning. Stock code O18713.
