WW1 Interwar Period Other Rank's Wolseley Pattern Foreign Service Helmet Possibly Singapore Volunteer Corps.
A good example of the issue pattern "Sun" Helmet. The helmet retains original thick pagri. and to the left side a large square half red half green badge (heavy Moth damage). The interior with leather sweatband. The lining with correct WD issue stamp and paper label of J Compton & Sons & Webb. Also with the name J.G.H. Grey" . Complete with chinstrap one end damaged. No damage to the cork shell. Very clean condition only damage to pager badge.
I have found a reference of a Lieutenant & Quartermaster J.G.H. Grey of the Singapore Volunteer Corps being awarded the 1935 Jubilee Medal. His rank would indicate a commission from the ranks of a long serving soldier. The WD combination stamp is correct for the Great War indicating a circa pre 1924 made example.
