Awarded to 173067 Pilot Officer Edward Albert Parker, Air Gunner Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He served with 431 Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Squadron. Whilst on operational duty he was reported killed over Germany on the 26th July 1944 with 431 Squadron. He was an air gunner serving onboard a Halifax Bomber B111, M2858 which went down over Germany. Pilot Officer Edward Albert Parker was awarded the 1939-45 Star, France & Germany Star and War Medal 1939-45. All campaign medals confirmed on medal slip with recipient’s service number 173067 present in original box of issue. Together with campaigns medals a Driving Efficiency medal dated 1940 and an Air Gunners cloth brevet. Records show that P O Edward A Parker was one of many Sergeants who was commissioned to the rank of Pilot Officer, London Gazette 18th April 1944.Original photograph shows recipient in uniform wearing Bombardiers wings but later served as a Air Gunner. He flew as crew on Halifax Bombers with 431 Squadron a Royal Canadian Air Force unit based in England. Squadron records and Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) records note PO Edward A Parker, killed whilst on a operational sortie over Germany whilst onboard Halifax Bomber BIII MZ858. He was killed on the 26th July 1944 aged 25 years. Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) records him as being remembered at Dumbach Cemetery and son of Edward and Mary Parker of Muswell Hill in Middlesex.
