A very good, untouched example of a Tipping & Lawden four barrelled derringer pistol, chambered in obsolete.30 calibre rim fire, Circa 1865.

3 inch sighted barrels stamped with British proof marks. "Tipping & Lawden Sharps Patent " stamped in a circle surmounting the hammer screw on the left side of the nickel plated brass frame. The barrel release button is located to the underside of the frame, allowing the barrels to slide forward for loading,  Sheathed trigger. Action is strong, and the indexing of the unique rotating hammer to each of the 4 barrels is good.

Overall length 6.5 inches. Numbered 4457 of 600 produced.

A small proportion of the original blued finih remaining to the barrels. Some thining to nickled parts. The bores with some pitting but rifling still clearly visible and the firing pin rotating correctly.  All in all a good example of a scarce little pistol.

These unique four barrelled pistols were made under licence from the American Sharps Company utilising thier 1859 Patent. Tipping & Lawden were respected members of the Birmingham Small Arms Trading Company Limited were eventually taken over by Webley & Scott in 1887.
