An original 1941 Pattern Auxiliary Territorial Services Service Dress Tunic dated 1941 and in a size 1.

This pattern of tunic was introduced in 1941 and replaced the earlier pattern introduced when the ATS was formed in 1938. It is essentially an economy pattern of the early tunic featuring plain patch pockets and simplified pocket flaps to the chest and a full waist belt which improved the fit of the jacket. 

The tunic retains its original belt with brass waist buckle and is fitted with brass Kings crown general service buttons. Brass ATS shoulder titles are fitted to each epaulette.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and reads 'Jacket, Serge, A.T.S' under which is the size of No. 1 which fits 5' 1 - 5' 2" tall with a 32-33" bust and 24-25" waist. The manufacturers name of 'L. Harris LTD' is present as is the date of June 1942 and the War Department broad arrow marking. 

The original owner has marked her name and number to the label which reads 'Sewell 276240'. She has marked her name a second time to the First Field Dressing pocket which is shown in the pictures. 

The tunic is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. There are some moth nips as well as a repair to the rear, all of which are shown in the pictures. . Overall it displays well but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn, vintage jacket with some flaws.  

A good original example with a clear label and date.
