A stunning pair of Indian made British Jungle Green Shorts in unworn, new old stock condition.

This pattern of shorts was worn throughout the Second World War by a variety of British and Commonwealth troops. Whilst dated 1946 these shorts are identical to those made during the war. Made from a cotton drill which has been vat dyed green, the shorts feature a double buckle and belt closure at the waist and a First Field Dressing pocket to the rear. Green painted metal buttons are fitted throughout the shorts which are typical of Indian made items from this period.

Inside the shorts the original maker's stamps are still present. The manufacturers stamp can be found to the inside of the waistband and bears the 1946 date as well as the makers initials of 'C. G. L'. There is also the standard circular stamp usually found on Indian made items which has been applied to one of the pocket bags. It again bears the 1946 manufacture date as well as the month of October.

The shorts are a small size which will suit someone of around a 28" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 14"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 6 1/2"
Outside leg - 20"
Cuff - 14 1/2"

The shorts are in new old stock, unworn condition and display very well indeed. They have clearly never been worn and are still the deep green colour they would have been when they left the factory. There are a couple of marks from storage which are detailed in the pictures but do not overly detract from the garment.

All in all a stunning pair of original shorts!
