An original British Army Khaki Drill Bush jacket which belonged to Adrian Harcourt Coles and dating from the 1950s.

Adrian Harcourt Coles was made a Corporal (most likely in the 1950s) and served with the Territorial Army during this period. He was gazetted 2nd Lt. (on probation), 18th Nov. 1959 whilst still a corporal. The lack of stripes or any other insignia on this jacket would date it to earlier than this, meaning it is most likely a 1940s example.

The jacket is typical of the era in many ways. It is made from a khaki coloured cotton drill and is fitted with butterscotch coloured horn buttons. Breast pockets feature scalloped flaps and flapped pockets can be found on the skirt. Epaulettes are located to the shoulders and the original waist belt with brass buckle is still present.

Inside the tunic there are no labels or clear markings but the original owner has marked his name and number which reads 'Coles 22066833'.

The jacket will suit someone of around a 38" chest and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 21"
Waist - 17"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length 29"

The tunic is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It only shows very limited signs of wear and use and overall has a very fresh and clear look. It is of course a vintage, pre-owned item so may have small issues commensurate with age. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice original KD tunic in good condition and complete with its matching waist belt.
