An original Coldstream Guards pattern khaki drill tunic dating from the 1950s and in good condition.

This tunic features the distinctive Guards front button layout which is instantly recognisable and different to the standard British Army pattern. The tunic is a theatre made example which was made in Nairobi in the post-war period. It is made from cotton drill which has been heavily starched for smartness. The sleeves are long but have been rolled up and starched which adds to the smart look of the jacket. It is fitted with staybrite Coldstream Guards buttons throughout and features Brass shoulder rank to a Lieutenant Colonel although one lug on each rank star has broken leaving them somewhat loose. Each arm features press studs to which divisional insignia would have been attached and removed for laundering purposes.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present to the neck. The name of 'Nairobi City Tailors' is present as is the address.

The tunic is a small size which will fit around a 35" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 18"
Waist - 14 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 3/4"

The tunic is in good condition with various signs of wear and use. Overall it displays well but please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice tunic from the immediate post-war period!
