An impressive “Theatre” made Luftwaffe camouflaged Jacket, nicely tailored from a Zeltbahn no doubt as the only suitable material available in local stores.
Growing up in Jersey I recall seeing several jackets made from Zeltbahns, following a number of patterns from quite crude to nicely executed as is this example.
The front is closed with six buttons, the top button arranged top close at the collar or lay open. There are two front slash pockets opening to inside bags. On the right breast is an other ranks machine embroidered eagle machine stitched in place.
The fit is generous and no doubt intended for wear over the uniform. The back is tailored in a bellows style possibly to allow for the wear of equipment under this waterproof Jacket.
Overall condition is very good. There is some fraying to the collar, two small holes at the right hip and a patch on the inside of the right sleeve using the same material and a few very minor paint spots.
A very nice Camouflaged Jacket which displays well.
