An original pair of Canadian made Khaki Drill Shorts dated 1946 and in un-issued, new old stock condition.

This pattern of shorts was introduced at the end of the war replacing the earlier old style with a much more contemporary design. Featuring a twin pleated front, slash pockets the hips and belt loops to the waist, these shorts are cut much shorter in the leg than the previous pattern and also feature twin rear pockets. The fly fastens with buttons as do both the rear pockets. The shorts are made from the standard khaki coloured cotton drill material used throughout the mid century period which being Canadian has a noticeably greener hue to it than British or Indian made examples.

Inside the shorts the original markings are still bright and legible. The Canadian War Department broad arrow in a 'C' is present as is the size of 7. A larger stamp can also be found on one of the pocket bags which bears details pertaining to size as well as the 1946 date.

The shorts are designed to fit someone with a 33" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise -  17"
Inside leg - 7 1/2"
Outside leg - 19"
Cuff - 13 1/2"

The shorts are in excellent condition with no signs of wear and use. Overall they display very well and look to be very wearable but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that these are vintage, pre-owned shorts which may have small issues commensurate with this.

A very nice pair of Canadian military shorts dating from the immediate post-war period and in great condition!
