An original pair of 1950 Pattern British Khaki Drill Trousers in good, used condition.

This pattern of trousers with the cross belt waist came into issue with British forces in 1944. It stayed in use well into the 1970s under different designations including '1950 pattern'. The waist belt was designed to be adjustable to account for the wearer losing weight in hot climates. This style is now often referred to as 'Gurkha pants'.

The trousers are made from the standard khaki coloured cotton drill used for British KD items during the Second World War as well as in the following two decades. They are cut with a high rise waist and the fly fastens with green plastic buttons whilst the waist fastens with single prong buckles. The front of the trousers features twin pleats and a large map pocket is located to the left leg. To the rear of the trousers are two pockets which confirm these trousers as being 1950 pattern and not the earlier 1949 pattern.

Inside the trousers the original label is still present and is reasonably bright and legible. The title of 'Trousers Drill Khaki 1950 Pattern is present at the top of the label below which is the size of 1. The manufacturer's name is stated as 'F. Fryer & Co Ltd' who were a prolific manufacturer of this pattern of trousers. Below this is the date which is hard to read but could be 1955.

The trousers will suit around a 36" - 27" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 13 1/2"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 16 1/2"
Inside leg - 28"
Outside leg - 39"
Cuff  9"

The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. They are in very good condition overall but show signs of being washed and worn. There are some areas of wear and some minor staining which is detailed in the pictures. There is some wear to the cross belts as pictured although this is not too severe. Please study pictures and remember that these are a vintage, pre worn pair of trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original pair of 1950s British military trousers in a highly sought-after style.
