An original late Second World War Canadian Ordinary Ranks Collared Shirt in good condition.

This pattern of shirt was introduced in late 1944 when dress regulations changed at the end of the year for Ordinary Ranks. Whilst previously they had been issued with collarless shirts to be worn underneath battledress blouses fastened to the top; the new regulations allowed for a collar and tie to be worn with the blouse collar open. Collared shirts went into production at this point whilst some soldiers had detachable collars stitched onto the collarless shirts they already own.

This example was made with an attached collar and therefore dates from late 1944 at the earliest. It is made from the khaki coloured wool flannel shirting usually found on issue shirts and features long sleeves with a barrel cuff. Pleated breast pockets are located to the chest and feature scalloped pocket flaps whilst epaulettes are fitted to the shoulders. The buttons are typical of Canadian manufactured items.

Inside the shirt the original label is still present although sadly it has been washed out.

The shirt will suit will fit a 38 -40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 22 1/2"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Length at front - 32"
Length at back - 35"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"

The shirt is in good condition for its age with signs of wear and use. There is some fading as is evident in the pictures. Please take time to study them and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original WW2 shirt!
