An original Royal Air Force 1972 Pattern Battledress Jacket which belonged to John Terry Tuckey who was a pilot in the RAF who had a very long career starting in the early 1950s and finishing in the 1980s.

This pattern of jacket was introduced in the early 1970s and in many ways is more akin to the American 'Ike' jacket than the British battledress blouse. It is made from a blue-grey coloured barathea wool and features a zip front as well as angled zip pockets to the chest. It has a notched collar and epaulettes are fitted to the shoulders. The jacket features a full lining and the original label is still present. It bears the original owner's name as well as details pertaining to size. The A/78 contract number is present and dates the jacket to approximately 1977. The maker's name of 'H. Edgard & Sons' Ltd is also present.

The jacket was made to fit a 45 1/2" chest according to the label. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 26"
Inside arm - 19 3/4"
Outside arm - 28 1/4"
Length - 27 1/2"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice example of this pattern of jacket in a large size.
