An original Civil Defence Beret dating from the 1940s and in good condition. 

This pattern of beret was introduced during the Second World War and was worn by both men and women. It is made from a dark blue coloured wool and features an embroidered King's crown Civil Defence cap badge to the front. The original markings which would have been present to the interior have been worn away but it is approximately a size 6 7/8.

The overall condition of the hat is good and it displays well.
