A very good original 1940 Dated British Army battledress blouse which belonged to a member of the Aylesbury Home Guard.

The jacket is a standard 1940 pattern example which features a lined collar. This pattern was introduced in the middle of 1940 and saw issue to both the British Army and the Home Guard. It is an early example which dates from 1940 and features the early wire waist buckle and two interior pockets. The sleeves are fitted with period insignia which is original to the jacket. Standard Home Guard shoulder titles surmount the area patch of 'BUX' and the location number of '1' which denotes the first battalion of the Buckinghamshire Home Guard which was based in Aylesbury. Another particularly nice feature is the addition of a hook and eye to the underside of the collar. When fastened this gives the collar a smarter appearance and was a common modification during the war.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and most of the details are still present. The title of 'Battledress, Blouses, Serge' is legible as is the maker's name of 'L. Silberston & Sons'. The sie is marked as 10 which is designed to fit a 36" - 37" chest and a 31" - 32" waist. As well as this there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'Q' which denotes 1940 as the year of issue.

The jacket is in very good condition and displays very well indeed. There are some signs of wear and use but overall it is a very good example. The only real flaw I can find is two small moth holes to the rear as detailed in picture 12. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

A very nice original Home Guard battledress which is in original, unmolested condition. This would make an excellent addition to any Home Guard collection without a doubt!
