An original British Army Orange Windproof Cadet Smock dating from the early 1990s and in unworn condition.

This pattern of smock was introduced in the 1960s and stayed in service for many years. It was produced in green as well as orange, with the orange examples being much more scarce and sometimes referred to as 'Mountain Rescue'. It is made from a tight weave orange coloured cotton and features a hood which fastens at the front with a plastic 'Opti' branded zip and features a white cotton drawstring which runs around the mouth of the hood. A large patch pocket is located to the chest and two flapped pockets are situated on the lower portion and fasten with plastic buttons which are orange in colour. There is a second white cotton drawstring fitted to the waist and like the one fitted to the hood, it features white plastic shrouds. There is a crotch strap inside the smock which can be fastened between the wearer's legs and inside the cuffs is a separate elasticated cuff to help weatherproof the garment.

Inside the smock at the neck there is a hanging loop, below which is the original label. It bears the title 'Smock, Windproof, Orange, Cadet Forces' and the size is stated as Medium which will fit a 36" to 40" chest. The maker's name of 'Weatherguard Leisure' is present as is the contract number of SL34b/0253 which dates the smock to the early 1990s.

When laid flat the smock measures -

Chest - 25 1/2"
Inside arm - 22"
Outside arm - 26 1/2"
Shoulders - 23 1/2"
Length - 32"

The smock is in excellent condition and has clearly never been worn or issued. It displays very well and is totally wearable. It is a vintage item so may have small issues commensurate with age. Please study the pictures before purchasing

A fantastic example of this pattern of smock which would be very hard to better!
