An original Second World War British Army officer's khaki drill tunic fitted with Major's rank slides and in a large size.

This style of bush jacket became popular with officer's during the Second World War. It offered a more relaxed fit to the Service Dress tunic and was often worn in place of a shirt with the collar open. The jacket is made from a tan - khaki coloured cotton drill and features a four button front and short sleeves. Pleated patch pockets are fitted to the chest and bellows pockets are located to the skirt. The tunic is fitted with brass buttons throughout and epaulettes are located at the shoulders. These are fitted with khaki drill 'slip-ons' which feature khaki backed Majors crown of the same pattern used in the pre-war period as well as in the first part of WW2.

An interesting feature of this tunic is the stitched rear which looks similar to the spine pads used in the late Victorian period and during the Great War. It is possible that the original owner was older, hence his rank, and asked to have this added to his tunic.

The tunic is a larger size which should fit a 40" chest comfortably. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"
Length - 33"

The tunic is in good condition with signs of wear and age. Overall it displays well and looks to be very wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice original WW2 tunic which is a hard to find larger size.
