An original World War One era Victory Medal, with length of replacement ribbon.

The Medal Index Card confirms George Atkins was entitled to a 1914 Mons Star trio, having arrived in theatre on 11 November 1914, exactly 4 years before the armistice.  The MIC also confirms George 'D. of. W.', or died of wounds.

Soldiers Died confirms he died of wounds, at home on 7 July 1917 and served with the 4th Battalion.  He is buried under a CWGC headstone in Paddington Cemetery.
