About this item
A good and early 1st Type example of the famous French Model 1916 "Avenger" Trench Knife.
Marked at the ricasson " Le Vengeur de 1870". This marking, in conjunction with the "76" was first registered on the 7th October 1915 by Roddier et Dozolme de Thiers, potentially making this example one of the very first produced.
This example has certainly seen service use, it has been sharpened, and the blade in now just shy of 6.5 inches, with some loss of profile at the tip. The hardwood grip is generally very good, with some minor splitting, as is common with the 1st type knife, but still solid in the blade.
Housed in its correct steel scabbard with elongated belt loop.
Acceptance marking to the crossguard.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
