About this item
For sale is a Rare WW1 French Infantry Wounded Soldiers Of Battle Of Vauquois 1914-1915 Photograph.
The French soldiers are standing around a board that states “Campagne 1914-1915 nos blesses de Vauquois” which translates to “Campaign 1914-1915 our wounded of Vauquois”. During World War 1, Vauquois was the site of violent mine warfare, also in connection with the Battle of Verdun (1916). From 1915 to 1918, French and German tunneling units fired 519 separate mines at Vauquois, and the German gallery network beneath the village hill (the Butte de Vauquois) grew to a length of 17 kilometres (11 mi). Vauquois was destroyed and many huge craters and dugouts remain. This is a very rare photograph showing the aftermath of a major battle to wounded soldiers, showing clear insignia, and some front line medics and surgeons. This will be sent via 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.Disclaimer: Items related to the Nazi regime or the Third Reich sold by dealers on this platform are intended solely for educational, historical, or TV/film prop purposes.
