About this item
WW2 Staffordshire Yeomanry Original "Donald Duck Sherman Tanks" Photographs.
An interesting and rare group of original photographs showing the Staffordshire Yeomanry with their Duplex Drive Sherman tanks. It shows them entering the water etc, probably training for operations, the landscape looks like North West Europe. The images are clear Approx Size 11 x 8.5 cm 17 images plus 1
The Staffordshire Yeomanry after service in North Africa returned to the UK and as part of the 27th Armoured Division. Landing on D-Day after heavy losses was posted back to the UK and converted to the DD Sherman Tank. Returning to the front with their DD’s took part in the Battle of the Scheldt and then the Rhine Crossing. It is possible these photographs are training for the Crossing of the Rhine.
