About this item
A stunning original Jungle Green shirt which belonged to a Colonel and dating from the 1950s.
The shirt is made from cellular cotton, often referred to as 'Aertex' which is a lightweight, breathable fabric which is ideally suited for wear in hot climates. It features a fully buttoning front and two pleated patch pockets to the chest. The front pockets and epaulettes all fasten with green plastic buttons as are usually seen on shirts from this period. The collar is a lovely, large spearpoint shape which is typical of the 1940s and 1950s.
The epaulettes feature stitched holes to which insignia can be fitted. Based on the layout the shirt most likely belonged to a Colonel although it could also have been fitted with Generals insignia.
The shirt is a larger size which will fit around a 44" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 25"
Length at front - 33"
Length at back - 37"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
The shirt is in good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. It may have small issues consummate with age and wear but overall it displays very well indeed.
A nice original shirt in a harder to find large size.
