About this item
An original British Army 1950 Pattern Jungle Green Bush Jacket Dated 1952 and in a size No. 6.
This pattern of jacket closely follows the design of those used during the Second World War. It is made from cellular cotton, or ‘Airtex’ as it is often referred to, which is dyed green for use in the jungle. The jacket features two upper breast pockets and two lower pockets, the flaps of which have been removed by the original owner.
The original label is still present inside the jacket and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Jackets Bush (SCC 15) Green 1950 Pattern' and the size as No. 6 which will fit someone of around 5’8” with a 37" - 40” chest and a 33-35” waist. The manufacturer's name of ‘H. S. Stanton & Co, Ltd’ is present as is the 1952 date. Below these details is the War Department broad arrow marking which was applied to all British military issue clothing. A War Department acceptance stamp can be found adjacent to the label and is surmounted by the letter 'L'.
When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 22”
Inside arm - 15 1/2”
Outside arm - 22 1/2”
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 28”
The jacket is in good condition although it has signs of wear and use. It is still wearable and displays well but is far from perfect. Overall it displays well but please study the pictures before purchasing.
A reasonable example with an early date for this pattern and a great label.
