    About this item

An original 1960s RAF Officers tropical summer shirt which belonged to John Terry Tuckey who joined the RAF in the late 1940s and served well into the 1980s.

This pattern of shirt was worn by officers serving overseas in hot climates. This example was worn by an RAF Officer and it is typical of the 1960s and 1970s. It is made from a poplin cotton material and features pleated breast pockets to the chest and epaulettes to the shoulders. Inside the neck of the shirt the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Samtani's Clothing' and the address in Hong Kong.

The shirt will fit around a 42" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

    Chest - 23"
    Inside arm - 20 1/2"
    Outside arm - 24 1/4"
    Shoulders - 19"
    Length - 31"

The overall condition of the shirt is good and it is still very wearable. There are some signs of use and some light staining as detailed in the pictures.

A nice original RAF officers shirt.
