About this item
An original British Army Ordinary Ranks Collarless shirt dating from the Second World War.
This original shirt is an interesting example with some nice period modifications. It is made from a khaki coloured wool and features a neckband collar made in the same material. The original buttons have all been replaced with brown revolving shank, or 'batchelor' buttons which is often seen on British items of this period. The righthand sleeve features a single white stripe of cotton tape denoting the rank of Lance Corporal and is another nice period detail. A label is present to the interior of the shirt but has been washed out.
The shirt is a small size and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 20"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 16"
Length at front - 30"
Length at back - 34"
The shirt is in well worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are areas of damage and staining which are detailed in the pictures and reflected in the price. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage item.
This shirt has some fantastic details which are so typical of the era. You won't find another the same!
