About this item
An original British Army Officer's Shirt which was made by 'Rego' in the 1940s.
This shirt is made from a green coloured linen cotton mix which was a popular choice for British officers during the 1930s and 1940s. The shirt is typical of those worn in the first half of the 20th Century in the UK having a half-placket front which was common until full button front shirts gained popularity in the 1950s. This style of officer's shirt was worn in the Great War and remained virtually unchanged by WW2. The shirt features a neckband collar which was designed to be worn with matching detachable collars. The inside of the neckband features the War Department broad arrow marking as well as the manufacturer's name of 'Rego'. The size number of 4 is also present.
The shirt is a small size which will suit someone of around a 34" chest, depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 22"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length at back - 36"
Collar - 15"
The shirt is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. Overall it displays very well and looks to still be very wearable. There ae a coulpe of small holes to each sleeve and another to the rear which are illustrated in the pictures. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
All in all a nice original early British Army officers collarless shirt in good condition.
