About this item
Rare, heavy and large pre-1939 Polish state enamel plaque. The sign depicts the Republic of Poland’s national emblem, the White Eagle, used between 1927 and 1939. In 1919, Poland’s government adopted the crowned white eagle as the official state symbol and this design by Zygmunt Kami?ski, a university professor of architecture and art, was accepted by the Polish government and signed into law in 1927. It was used until the German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. This plaque would have been displayed outdoors on buildings etc and so shows consequent wear and tear. Dimensions are 19 inches x 15.5 inches. To view more images of this item and see my other stock please follow the link to my website.
