    About this item

    An original Victory Medal with length of replacement ribbon.  Named correctly to;

    10272 PTE. T. RICHFORD. SEAFORTH HIGHRS.

    Thomas Richford's entitlement to a 14 trio is confirmed on the MIC having arrived in France on 19 November 1914.  MIC also confirms he was awarded the MM.

    London Gazette shows he was Mentioned in Despatches as on 12 August 1916 (Gazetted 19 October 1916) and was entitled to the Russian Medal of St. George, 4th Class (Gazetted 15 Mat 1917).  His entitlement to the MM is confirmed on the medal index rolls, which confirm he was serving with the 1st Battalion.  It was Gazetted on 21 October 1916 (date shows wrong on the Gazette website, so search for entries on 20 October 1916 if you're confirming entitlement).

    At the time of his MM the Battalion was attached to the 19th Indian Infantry Division, serving in Egypt.
