Boer War Desk Clip

Loosely falling into the catagoery of "Trench Art" this desk clip or tidy has been formed from a clip of Mauser ammunition, mounted to a hinge engraved "South Africa 1900-1902" which in turn is fixed to a lead weighted brass shield.

Each of the four inert rounds is dated 1899, although one has been coated in solder, probably to keep them in place.

The shield measures 5 inches by 3.75 inches. 

An interesting and unique souvenir which may have had great significance to the soldier who had it made.
