About this item
An 1827 pattern Rifles officers sword, circa 1860.
This example has been plated at some point during its life, and has then been rather neglected.
The wooden grip is damaged, and has none of its original covering remaining, although inexplicably the twistwire remains. Both hilt and blade have losses to the plating, and rust bleed, particualy noticeable on the grip ferrule and the blades tip.
The etching is largely obscured by the plating, although part of the makers marking, and the regimental word "Berkshire" is visible, perhaps for the Berkshire Regiment, or one of the county's volunteer rifles units.
Being sold for restoration, spares, or repair. If you just want a shiny sword to hang on the wall, are just starting a collection, or are a budding restorer, then this could be the sword for you!
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
