About this item
Generally following the style of Oakeshott Type XVIa, this sword features a broad 34 ½"
double-edged blade with wide single fuller extending for 2/3 of its length; latten-filled cross in
circle on one side in the fuller and running wolf on the other side. Straight rectangular-
section guard of Oakeshott Style 1a.; long tapering wood grip with old, possibly original,
leather wrap (minor losses); large thick pommel of Oakeshott Type J. Metal cleaned and
showing lamination and moderate pitting, heavier toward the blade point. Overall length 44
½". Non-excavated condition swords like this are quite scarce.
